Terms of service
In force from [À COMPLÉTER: LEGAL_EFFECTIVE_DATE]. Dounia News is published by [À COMPLÉTER: LEGAL_OPERATOR], [À COMPLÉTER: LEGAL_ADDRESS] (“we”). By using the website or the app you accept these terms. The French text prevails.
1. What Dounia News does
Dounia News gathers the headlines and a short summary of articles published by Burkinabè media, groups those that cover the same event (“stories”) and sends you to the publisher’s website for the full article. We do not publish full articles.
Articles, headlines and trademarks belong to their publishers. We are neither their authors nor their editors.
2. Automatic summaries and translations
Summaries, translations, categories and the grouping into stories are produced in part by automatic tools (artificial intelligence). They may contain mistakes or omissions. Only the publisher’s article is authoritative: when in doubt, read it.
3. Account
Reading the site is free. To save articles or follow stories you sign in with your Comptes Dounia account (single sign-on). The terms of Comptes Dounia apply to your account; we keep only your name and email address.
You are responsible for the use of your account and for keeping your access private. Tell us about any unauthorised use.
4. Links, sponsor pages and adverts
A click on a headline goes through our redirect address, which counts the visit before sending you to the publisher. From time to time a sponsor’s page may be shown for a few seconds before the redirect, and “Sponsored” boxes appear at the bottom of some pages. They are always labelled.
Publishers’ and sponsors’ websites are independent of us: their content, terms and privacy policies are theirs, and we are not responsible for what they publish.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: copy the site or its content by automated means (permitted search engines excepted), bypass or misuse the redirect links, distort visit or advert statistics, disrupt the service or try to reach what is not meant for you, or use the service unlawfully.
We may suspend an account or an address that does not follow these rules.
6. Publishers’ rights and reports
If you are a publisher or rights holder and want content removed or corrected, write to support@dounia.net with the address concerned and we will deal with it promptly. Any reader may also report unlawful or wrong content.
7. Availability and liability
The service is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of continuous availability or accuracy. It may be interrupted for maintenance or in case of failure.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage, loss of data, or for how you use information read on the site or at publishers.
8. Changes
We may change these terms; the date at the top shows the version in force. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new version.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law applicable in the OHADA area and the law in force in Burkina Faso.
Before any proceeding the parties will seek an amicable solution for 30 days from written notice of the dispute to the other party.
Failing agreement, the dispute is finally settled by arbitration under the rules of the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration (CCJA) of OHADA, seat: [À COMPLÉTER: LEGAL_JURISDICTION]. The losing party bears all the costs of the arbitration. Each party waives any class or collective action.
These provisions apply as far as the law allows: rights the law gives you as a consumer are preserved.
