Help: how to
Short answers to the most common questions. Services open gradually: a topic only shows here when it is available on the site.
Create an account and sign in
- Click “Sign in” (or “Sign up”) at the top of the page.
- You go through Comptes Dounia, the same account as the other Dounia services: create it or sign in with your e-mail address.
- You come back to Dounia News, signed in. Your name appears at the top; “Sign out” is in Account.
Reading the news does not need an account. An account lets you save articles, follow stories, create alerts, get the digest, write to advertisers or publish.
Save an article or follow a story
- On an article card, click “Save”; on a story, click “Follow this story”.
- Find your articles in “Saved” and the news of your stories in “My feed”.
Create and manage alerts
An alert e-mails you when a new article contains the words you watch.
- Open the Alerts page (from Account > Notifications).
- In “New alert”, give a name (required) and the words to watch, separated by commas.
- Put a phrase in quotes to search it as written, and a dash before a word to exclude it: ouagadougou, "Roch Kaboré", -sport.
- Choose the language and how often (daily summary; “as soon as possible” with Premium), then “Create alert”.
- In “My alerts” you can pause an alert, resume it or delete it, and see its latest articles.
Only the headlines and short summaries of recent articles (the last three days) are checked, whole words, ignoring accents and capitals. The number of alerts is limited; Premium raises it.
Subscribe to or unsubscribe from the e-mail digest
- Sign in, then open Account > Notifications.
- Click “Get the digest” to subscribe (with Premium you also choose the send hour).
- To stop: “Unsubscribe me” on the same page, or the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every e-mail (it works without signing in).
Pay Dounia News
- Choose what you are buying: Premium, a featured listing, Publisher Plus or an API plan.
- Click “Pay with …”: you are sent to the provider’s secure payment page.
- After paying you come back to the site. The purchase activates as soon as the provider confirms, usually within moments; until then it shows as “pending” in your purchases.
- A numbered receipt is e-mailed to you. Your purchases are listed on the Premium page.
We never ask for your card code or a password by message. For a payment problem, a bank transfer or Mobile Money payment made by hand, or a refund for an error on our side, write to support@dounia.net with the payment reference.
Open a developer account (API)
- Sign in and open the Developers page.
- In the Offer tab, read the terms of use, tick the box, then “Open my free account”.
- In the Keys tab, click “Create a key”. Copy it straight away: it is never shown again.
- Send it in the Authorization header (Bearer); the Integration tab shows an example and the full reference.
The free tier is for testing. For more requests a day or pictures, write to us for a quote: support@dounia.net.
Publish a job offer
- Sign in, open Jobs and click “Publish”.
- In the Profile tab of the Publisher area, introduce your organisation (name, description, website).
- Open the Jobs tab and fill in the title, description, place, contract and sector, then “Publish”. The offer stays a draft until you submit it.
- It is reviewed: it goes live at once or after a check, depending on the trust given to your account. You are told by e-mail.
- In the list you can edit, renew, mark “Position filled” or delete the offer, and see how many people opened it.
Asking for money to apply is forbidden: the listing would be refused. A listing lasts a limited number of days; we tell you before it ends so you can renew it.
Publish a classified ad
- Sign in and open the Publisher area (Classifieds > “Publish”). Introduce your organisation first if you have not.
- Open the Classifieds tab, choose the category, then fill in the title, description, place and price.
- Click “Publish”; the ad is reviewed and then goes live.
- When it is sold, use the ad’s close button in the list to take it down.
Ads that ask for payment in advance, duplicates and misleading content are removed.
Give a listing more visibility
- Featured: in the list of your live listings, open “Feature this listing”, choose how long and pay. It is shown first with a “Featured” label. Places are limited for each kind of listing.
- Publisher Plus: in the Profile tab of the Publisher area, buy the period you want to keep more listings open at the same time.
Write to an advertiser and follow the conversation
- On a listing, fill in “Write to the advertiser” (name, message, and a phone number if you wish), then “Send the message”.
- The advertiser does not see your e-mail address and you do not see theirs. Their answer reaches you by e-mail and in Account > Messages.
- You can write again after each answer. To end it, “Close the conversation”; to remove it, “Delete this conversation”.
- Advertiser: your replies are in the Replies tab of the Publisher area.
No links in the first messages of a recent account, and never money in advance. Report an abusive message with “Report”.
Report a problem
- Suspicious or misleading listing: on the listing page, use “Report”. Several reports hide the listing until it is checked.
- Abusive message: in the conversation, “Report this advertiser” (on the advertiser side: “Report this message”).
- Article: if a headline or summary is wrong, or a media outlet asks to be removed, write to us with the page link.
- A bug or any other problem: write to us and tell us what you were doing and what you saw.
You can also write to support@dounia.net.
Delete my account
- Sign in and open Account > Account.
- Under “Delete my account”, click “Delete permanently” and confirm.
Your profile, sign-ins, saved articles, alerts and conversations are erased for good. Your Dounia account itself is not deleted: manage it from “Manage my Dounia account”. There is no data export.
